[EAS] EAN - potential harm?

I sent this to our local EM folks - I am not given to conspiracies, but the traffic on the 'dark sites' that I am seeing being reported lately is very troubling. I am willing to be ridiculed, and most certainly hope to be proven wrong.....but I think it is worth considering.

Quoted email:

I hate to bring this up, but there are 'chats' on the various 'dark channels' about the President using an EAN in frustration about being blocked on social media channels to blanket the nation.

Given the recent events, I cannot completely rule out this rather insane idea. There appear to be serious plans by bad actors to wreak various kinds of havoc before the inauguration.

I know you are not the FCC, but I am curious what the implications might be if our boxes suddenly went 'stupid' in such a bizarre event. Perhaps 'updates in progress' or 'power failures', etc.

Has the State thought about this at all? As crazy and remote a possibilty as this seems, it really could be a serious national security concern. Due to the nature of an EAN, it would effectively block any other potentially critical alerts.

Thanks,
