If they draw a line between necessary and unnecessary, then I'm in... But 8am would seem to be a decent hour to issue a travel alert would seem to be necessary considering the reported snowfall amounts.
The Nashville NWS office got into a bad habit of issuing flood warnings (before WEA) at 2 or 3AM and then extending that warning at 2 or 3AM every morning for a week (sometimes longer). We frigging know that the river is flooding and that it will be flooding for days. Vast numbers of WX radios were turned off across the region.
Myself and a local EMA official finally got across to the MIC that the late night extensions of obvious events were counterproductive and got them to issue the first (necessary) warning for a shorter time frame to put its anticipated extension during waking hours. Or maybe they just extended the event early during the daytime to reset the clock. Either way, the unnecessary 2AM alert blasts stopped.
