All,
We just wanted to provide another reminder and clarification about the upcoming changes in IPAWS, and a number of misunderstanding on software updates in regards to the DASDEC and One-Net EAS units.
1. FEMA's IPAWS security update works regardless of whether you are running version v3.1 or v4.0. No action is needed!
2. IPAWS digital certificate updates are coming sometime in the next few weeks. We are pinging the certificate site on a daily basis, and new certs are not available yet. When they ARE available, we will make these available on our website as a FREE upload file you can apply to your DASDEC / One-Net unit. We will obtain the certs, package them, and host them on our side. You can just download them when available, and then upload them to your DASDEC/One-Net.
3. Version 4.1 is an OPTIONAL update. You do not need to update to v4.1 if you don't want to. There are good things in v4.1, like a complete OS upgrade (improved operating and security), Triggered CAP Polling(tm), BLU support and greater flexibility for future value-added enhancements. V4.0 is a highly recommended but OPTIONAL update. If you don't want to get it, that's fine.
4. We had also provided some fairly generous upgrade windows with v3.0 and v4.0. If you are running v2.6 (i.e. have not upgraded software in 4, 5 or more years), and wish to upgrade contact us to see if the device had was shipped within one of those windows.
Again, if you are running v3.1, and you don't want to upgrade .... you simply don't have to upgrade - unless you want some of the new features! If you are one of the few users running v2.6, please contact us and we'll try to figure out something for you.
Ed
