HI Dave - Long time no talk to ....
Here in Washington State they have (finally) concluded if non-English
alerting is required
That the alerting entity is going to have to do the job. EAS Participants
are
Just conduits!
I know that at least one of our 39 Counties is ready to do just that with
Spanish
Perhaps because Latino's are now over 50% in that county.
BTW -
Was in Boise on the 22nd visiting our Kids, their Kids and our Great
Grandson.
Leaving there I traveled to visit old friends in Anaconda via a route that
has
Been on my Bucket-List for years...Via Stanley and Salmon, Lolo Pass,
Wisdom Mt and some back roads into Anaconda. Very impressed with
The beauty of that part of your state. Plan on doing it in reverse soon.

supply chain
All of this is a moot point if the alert originators can't do
multi-lingual. Getting software and protocol support is just part of
the picture. Same thing with all of the g-wiz features we are promised
in ATSC3.0. I don't see our OEM supporting those new features anytime
soon. I doubt we are the only state/jurisdiction in that position. And
funding priorities are no doubt different if you live somewhere that has
an almost guaranteed hurricane or tornado landfall every year or two.
Some will have the resources to originate multi-lingual alerts and/or
the multi-media g-wiz stuff with ATSC3, and that is great for their
citizens. Other jurisdictions are going to find other places to put
their limited resources.
