I fail to see a GOOD reason why everyone can not sit down and determine 
a format that works for everybody.

Duplicate EAS announcements will lead station management into turning it 
off.  Most radio stations do not have a staff meteorologist; they're 
lucky to have a live body for morning drive.  The rest of the time a 
computer puts something between commercials.

I do recognize federal bureaucracies, turf wars, and silos as excuses 
but continuing to tap dance around this will kill somebody in the public 
one day.

Lesson learned in USN boot camp.

Petty Officer: "Give me a reason for that, recruit"

Recruit: [Anything you say]

Petty Officer:  "That's an EXCUSE, maggot.  Now give me the REASON."

(I did leave out all of the necessary four letter words in that 
exchange, there were many.)
