The NWS is taking a survey on consolidating all their flood products into a simplified three tier system of watch, advisory and warning. Gone will be the "costal, lake shore, river and areal" qualifier. They would, however, keep the FFW product separate for short fuse events. Go to any NWS WFO page and it's a headline towards the top.
