Not sure I understand, Sean.  Did you generate a plot of the data I posted?  If so, please share it.  I can't take any responsibility for the polys you posted earlier... do you know where they came from originally?

Sure, it's possible to be careless in drawing a poly.  It's also possible to fumble-finger a FIPS code or misspell a name.  OTOH, your earlier example also illustrates how precise polys can be.

It seems like you're trying to use a single instance to prove some general principle, but I'm really not following your logic.  Anyway, if you have a constructive suggestion I'm sure we all love to hear it.

I guess you miseed where the "simplified" polygons cut-off large chunks of
the islands. If a warning systems used those coordinates on parts of the
islands (such as WEA cell towers), it would have missed several sections
of the islands.

Sometimes implementations of good ideas are badly done.

Ignoring problems doesn't fix them.
