Indeed, the battle of the attention signals rages even as we speak. Chile adopted the polite NHK chimes for its EEW system, while some folks here in CA find it a bit too My Little Pony for warning purposes.
There's also a debate as to whether there should be one attention signal for all hazards, a-la Oz, EAS and WEA, or whether people can be trained Pavlov-like to take a particular protective action in response to a hazard-unique signal.
Personally I'm skeptical of our ability to brand a particular sound that specifically (especially if it sounds like the arrival of the Earthquake Fairy) but opinions differ.

Watching Australia, Canada, Chile and Caribbean countries choose alert signals for their countries, it seems to be one of the most contentious part of the entire public warning system.
Each country seems to want a distinct sound for their system.
Japan has the most polite warning signals, the USA has some of the most obnoxious warning signals. Its probably a cultural thing.
