Here at KQED-FM, the LP2 for the Bay Area, we tried to get San Francisco press passes for the critical studio and transmitter engineers. SF denied the request. This looks like one of the obvious things in life that can only be accomplished after a major disaster shows the deficiencies in the system.

Alex, we have, for years, tried and tried to get some kind of ID so that someone could get to the transmitter site. During the Loma Prieta earthquake in the late 80's our Spanish LP station had a tripped circuit breaker and the highway patrol would not let the chief engineer pass the police line. It was only a block away. CA just will not grant any kind of official ID to stations.
