For several years I've been talking to broadcast automation system vendors
about ingesting CAP messages. Although they made appropriate noises when
asked I suspect than no coding will occur until several major customers ask
for it. I know of one newsroom software vendor, Burli Newsroom Systems, that
currently ingests IPAWS CAP messages. It's pretty cool for a news/talk
station to be able to say: "Cell phones in the Brookside neighborhood are
currently going off with a ____ warning. Here's additional information..."

>Actually this intermediate step is not even needed. Allow the automation
vendors to access CAP and let them handle the whole thing, including
automatic voice coding...outside of EAS.
>This would dovetail nicely with broadcast centric weather bulletins and
allow stations the ability to neatly auto-insert weather bulletins they feel
do not rise to EAS, but still alert the public.
