Depends on the automation system and EAS box and both system's GPIO
capabilities. We looked at the hoops needed to jump through with the Sage
and ENCO and decided it's wasn't worth the hassle to do polite insertion.
Plus we run mostly long form programming and we felt that polite insertion
would excessively delay the messages if run in the next break. So, we felt
it just wasn't right for those stations carrying time perishable messages.
That's not to suggest it's not possible, but the back and forth between
the systems requires a fair amount of fiddling to make it really polite
and functional.
This is why I suggested a non-EAS CAP to voice messaging option within the
automation systems to take messages we feel are not EAS grade events and
those could be politely inserted.
