This raises a couple of tangiential points:
- Longmont Colorado also apparently had its siren system triggered. They
just decided to switch off the system in favor of sending out notifications
by telephone dial out, social media, and "a radio station." Not sure
whether that means activating an LP-1 EAS station or just sending a news
bulletin out to a local radio station. I fear the latter.
- you're right, info sharing is weak point - between governments, between
gov't and private sector, and between private sector entities. In terms of
public outreach, I think that Dallas authorities were relatively
forthcoming, balancing the need for some measure of operational security
with information relevant to the public interest.

Information sharing between organizations is important for security, because
there are almost always precursors. Secrecy about security problems often
just means more victims later. Sharing lessons learned with other groups may
not just help them, but may also help you.
