I was in my Ford Ranger, equalization set for music (full bass full 
treble factory radio).  When the announcement came over, it was "work" 
to listen to it.

A lot of effort goes on to make this best for the public so I don't 
think it's micro managing to have the voice be part of the 
attention-getting factor, just like the modem bit stream is doing.

If they won't give us trimmed lows and highs for effect, then give us a 
female.  It's like they found a voice who won the low resonate tone contest.
