Sure, that works and RDS would be the parallel in the case of FM. The thing about AMSS is that it works around many typical AM limitations. The narrow bandwidth results in approximately a 48 DB S/N improvement and the fact that it is phase modulation and not AM improves things even more. Of course, the NIH problem remains.
