Might I also point out, that standards are useless if they are continually changed.
Standards should be just that.... standard. Unchanging, unwaivering, and longstanding.
While I certainly understand that we work in a fast paced world of technological advancements - just think how disappointed the average consumer would be if today, after we had JUST gotten the consumer used to HDTV, we switched to holographic transmitters, and every consumer were required to buy one or lose all ability to watch TV/use computers?? The HDTV switch took a massive tole on the average TV station, and it hurt many lower end families as well!
...or if suddenly, the IP standard were changed to IPV8, which of course wouldn't be backward compatible, and all IPV4 and IPV6 boxes were rendered defunct by legal precept.
The FCC, and Congress by extension, have little regard for the plight of the common man, or the average business. They make a law, and it must be followed, and if it forces you out of business, its just too bad for you. You should have been in some other business. Why shouldn't you have known ahead of time that laws would be made that would financially bankrupt your business model?
The problem isn't necessarily that the company can't afford... but rather that the government is intentionally pushing to put certain companies out of business.
Do I really need to use the word "COAL" here for people to understand?
I may merely be an engineer, but I certainly understand the plight of the small market station owner.
