[EAS] concerning the request for new weather Event Codes

I believe Lowell's suggestion of SPS was just that, a suggestion.

My questions is this - 

Would it be useful is NWS used a unique Event Code that could be used with a
unique 'broadcast product'  that would provide an wide area/overview of a
weather situation the could be programmed into endecs of broadcast stations
that do not wish to become 'storm tracker' with the related frequency of EAS
messages as now is the practice.   

We have a problem here that is calling for a solution - Thus far all I have
been reading is everyone posting comments justifying their position and/or
obligations...but no one is proposing a solution ...Especially one that
would restore the connection between broadcast stations and the NWS that has
been severed due to message flooding.

SPS's serve the purpose of general event advisement and update which does
not meet the thresholds of a warning....be it winter or summer.  It's a
generic coverall product which I think fits the bill just where it's at.
