Someone please explain technical and non-political reasoning for not using
the NWR as a PEP. With FEMA spending millions to harden many Class A AM's
and any number of wide coverage FM's, would it not make sense to harden the
NWR system as well?
Some of these political silo's need to have holes drilled into them...

My response -
For those that don't know - The Seattle WFO is directly connected to our
areas EAS System.
> They have a Sage Endec that is fed the following sources -
1 - The Regional PEP
2- The Local participating NPR Station
3- The State Relay Network
4- The Local Relay Network
The Endec feeds TWO - TFT program interrupt devices that are in series with
the feeds to the NWR transmitters served by this WFO.
Another way of looking at it - The Seattle WFO looks like a broadcast
station in many respects.
In the Seattle area - 162.550 (KHB-60) is the LP-2
This system has been in place for many years and is VERY successful.
A call to Ted Buehner (Seattle WCM) can yield additional information.
I am happy to say that in Seattle a silo has been punctured for the benefit
of all.
This is just another example of how the Washington State SECC has
historically been willing to think outside the box for the benefit of all.
