[EAS] concerning the request for new weather Event Codes

Don't forget Paul Revere.
If they had EAS back then the colonies would be under a BIA (British Invasion Watch).
Then when the attack was imminent they go to a BIR.

I am not sure if the initial situation in Dallas would lend itself to the warning systems we have in place.
With all hands on deck dealing with the immediate scene, I wonder if public warning was only an afterthought?
Alerts do take time to generate. Dallas may have just been too sudden and too overwhelming. Much as was the case with the 9/11 attacks.

My heart goes out to the injured officers and the families of the fallen officers.
It is sad that one man's solution to officer involved shootings elsewhere is to kill other police officers.
These guys had nothing to do with the other shootings, now five families are forever changed.
Cops have it tough. They have to make split-second life and death decisions often with little or no information.
I have no idea of the particulars in either of the previous shootings. I don't know the details or what the officers were actually facing.
Hopefully the truth will be allowed to come out and appropriate action, if warranted, will be taken.
But to just randomly start shooting at cops in the middle of an otherwise peaceful demonstration... there is nothing that can excuse such action.
Imagine if you had a job where every morning that you went to work came with the possibility that you might not live to see the next day. There will be no justice for five of Dallas' finest. They were just doing their job, trying to protect people like you and me.
