Alex,

Thank you for the detailed description and answers to my questions.
I have no doubt about the experience needed by the folks at the local NWS offices.
It really is difficult to make accurate calls all of the time.

The technology that you have is really great these days.
But it still takes a skilled person to properly interpret what the technology is saying.
I worked with our local ARES group for many years and even remember NWS when they had nothing but green screen radar.
Talk about needing a Wizard's hat and a crystal ball!

I also realized that my thinking was off regarding the use of polygons.
You still managed to glean what I was really asking, even if my words didn't really convey that.
You must have been using that interpretive skill of a weather forecaster applied to my wandering thoughts.
