All goes to show a few things:
1. RWTs are good... the quicker you discover these problems, the
quicker they get fixed.
2. Two heads (or more!) are better than one... Thanks to Sean for
helping identify the problem quickly. And thanks to Al and Mark for
"hanging out" on this forum and giving us good feed back (and
listening to feedback).
3. Stuff happens. Which is why having backup mechanisms to IPAWS
remains important. In our state, the same service (AlertSense) that
provides the interface for generating IPAWS alerts, also makes those
alerts available directly to our EAS Participants. So those
participants following our State Plan would still have received the
alerts even if they couldn't poll IPAWS for a few hours. There are
other ways to accomplish the same redundancy, but the bottom line is
"stuff happens".
