[EAS] [BC] Florida to create new national emergency alerts

It didn't say the alerts would go out "anytime something bad happens in Florida."
If that were the case, the thing would be running constantly.
It is an alert used to help apprehend a violent fugitive involved in shooting a police officer and who poses a threat to the community at large.

I think it is a good idea, but perhaps I am biased.
My daughter and son-in-law are both law enforcement officers.
We also, recently lost an Omaha police officer to gun violence from a fugitive at large.
Not to mention the cameraman from the COPS TV show who was shot and killed criminal here in Omaha, during an attempted arrest.

My kids risk their lives every day they put on the uniform.
This weighs heavily upon me.

I'm off now to enjoy sipping my coffee knowing that we have good people out there everyday, putting it all on the line to protect the rest of us.
