For any who may be interested, FEMA IPAWS, together with the FEMA Office of
Disability Integration and Coordination (ODIC) are holding a roundtable on
Wednesday, June 17, 2015 from 1:30 - 3:30pm EDT.
The roundtable will look at IPAWS and accessibility, and we will be making
presentations on multilingual EAS and CVAA emergency information
accessibility.

The IPAWS PMO will provide a brief update on IPAWS, and the following guest
presentations will be provided:
. David Baquis, US Access Board, will discuss the proposed refresh of
the Information and Communication Technology (ICT) Standards and Guidelines.
The proposed updates are intended to ensure that information and
communication technology is accessible to and usable by individuals with
disabilities.
. Lillian McDonald, Lucy Swift, Don Heppelmann, ECHO Minnesota Twin
Cities Public Television, and John Dooley, Communications Officer, Minnesota
Dept. of Public Safety, will discuss and demonstrate the translation
technology of IPAWS alerts into Hmong, Somali, and Spanish messaging to be
broadcast via Digital Alert Systems' EAS equipment into the secondary audio
programming channel.
. Edward Czarnecki, Digital Alert Systems/Monroe Electronics, will
discuss and demonstrate the DAS Audio Management System which automatically
inserts Text-To-Speech of emergency information into the secondary audio
programming channel of a TV station.
