When we discussed this in the CSRIC WG3 sessions on National EAS Tests, as I
recall, Ed Czarnecki, Harold Price and Darryl Parker stated that their
equipments could handle the proposed All USA code. The only question was in
regard to the Gorman Redlich converter units and there aren't that many of
those around. I believe the information we received was that new units would
be needed. The FCC and FEMA discouraged the committee from conducting a
survey to find out what kind and how many EAS units are in use. As Nevada
EAS chair, I can tell you that I am aware of two G-R units in use in the
state. Of course, the stations with those units are most likely the ones
which can least afford a new unit, but they were warned...
