Only recenly have the TV's started hiring real weather people for TV.  
Not making TV people into weather readers. Last year during the big 
severe weather outbreak (and in response to Fox's wall to wall coverage 
using their own Baron radar previously), all three major O&O stations 
put their best people on wall to wall despite them being off shift.  
Why...? Because they're competent and know their dual professions.
