Adrienne asked how we in "Tornado Alley" deal with the constant alerts
during a moving weather event.
The answer to that is wholly dependent on the station itself.
Some only do RWT's, RMT's, and EAN's, as minimally required, and pay no
attention to any other alerts, ever. The hits keep playing as the town
blows away.
Some do TOR's as well as FFW's, SVR's and others. Some do not only the
warnings but the watches too and are rather busy retransmitting alerts
for hours.
Others (like KRVN) retransmit NO alerts via EAS as our mission, and
reason for coming into being, was to give the listener/owners up to the
second weather reports.
Our airstaff is in constant backdoor contact with NWS and many times
gets the information out before the EAS starts.
So, to condense the above. There is no set way anyone in tornado alley
does anything. It is all up to the station.
I will also say that the State EAS Plan in Nebraska requires that the
local NWS Wx. Radio be one of the monitored stations, so we are not
dependent on daisy chaining weather alerts.
