Agreed. Moreover, my hope is emergency services and municipalities in other cities take stock in the path their services take; like running their trunking radio systems over phone lines or reliance on cell phones for coordination.
Phone companies nationwide have sacrificed spending of capital on bolstering network reliability and maintenance, instead focusing purely on sales and marketing for sales. Vendors who sell communications systems to municipalities run under a false similar assumption that their clients do, that phone networks are inherently reliable, so it's okay to tie your radio services into them. Radio is voodoo science that most of the modern engineers designing these systems, don't comprehend.
