In the Inland Northwest area of Washington our message flooding problem is the NWS is using very small polygons in each county. An SVR is issued for an area, 10 minutes later the storm has moved a few miles and another is issued, 10 minutes later its in another county and another is issued. 11 SVR's in 2 1/2 hours from the same NWS office. In our instance an SVR issued for a larger area and longer duration to Broadcasters would be better and maybe use WEA and other avenues for multiple pinpoint alerts.
We have met with the Weather Servos people here . They have agreed to shorten the alerts whenever possible and not repeat so much information.
The Inland Northwest Area has 20 Counties covering almost 43 thousand square miles. Our problem is multiplied when there are storm cells 150 miles apart causing similar issues.
