[EAS] WEA is Good for Broadcasters

Greetings EAS Forum:

There is an interesting 13 minute webcast on youtube from Galain
Solutions (link below) to help broadcasters understand our role in the
new cell phone alerts called WEA (pronounced Wee Uh). One nick-pick I
have is the presentation at one point confuses traditional EAS with
IPAWS for the national EAN Test in 2011. Perhaps Rick Wimberly will fix
that.

The sources of emergency alerts to IPAWS will be the same for WEA and
EAS. WEA encourages people to tune to broadcasters for more
information.

In Nebraska the SECC group has decided to include WEA discussions in
combination with EAS. I suggest we all reach out to the wireless cell
companies and this new alert system. I agree with this video that we
should not try to separate the closely related emergency services of EAS
& WEA. WEA can enhance the audience for broadcasters since it's
information is extremely limited.
