[EAS] CAP EAS

Last week I posted the following...

Just for what it's worth.

We have two SAGE digital units each serving a different radio station. This week one of the two units failed to receive the CAP test while the other received it normally. The two units are mounted in the same equipment rack and plugged into the same Cisco switch. The weekly tests come in at 11:05AM local time, 19:05 UTC.

The log on the unit that received the test recorded the following...

Jan 7 19:05:51 Filter matched _internaleas, action capauto Jan 7 19:05:51 ZCZC-CIV-RWT-006000-032000-041000-053000+0100-0071905

The log on the unit that didn't receive the test recorded the following...

Jan 7 19:05:31 GetCap: wget exited with error 1

The log on the unit that failed this week had the following entry from the previous week.

Dec 31 19:05:09 ZCZC-CIV-RWT-006000-032000-041000-053000+0100-3661905
Dec 31 19:05:09 cap4;ZCZC-CIV-RWT-006000-032000-041000-053000+0100-3661905	/mnt/ramfs/KQEI_FM-capa-20121231-110509143a.xml /mnt/ramfs/KQEI_FM-capa-20121231-110509143a.txt	en-US	/mnt/ramfs/KQEI_FM-capa-20121231-110509143a.ctl

I will see what happens next week, but I expect the unit that missed this week's test will receive next week's test.
I don't have a question, but I wonder if this points to the Hit & Miss nature of the system as it now exists. We haven't missed any tests prior to this week.

Update for this week.

The same unit once again failed to receive the CAP test. I have now power cycled the unit and I will see what happens next week. If it continues to miss the CAP tests I will probable reload the last config file to see if that makes a difference.
For what it's worth, after the last bunch of CAP server UP & DOWN problems our first unit had a flashing "Automatic" LED on the front panel. I power cycled that unit to fix the CAP connection. Perhaps the 2nd unit was affected in the same way, but not enough to trigger the flashing LED.

Cheers,

Larry Wood, CPBE

I remember seeing someone posted missing CAP EAS message last month or so? I must delete the leads.

I have two SAGE EAS ENDEC. They are on same network. Starting the week of Dec. 23rd. The two ENDEC receiving CAP EAS test in alternative weekly fashion. Any update on what causing it?
