We recently replaced the fuel tank on a Tx Site Generator....(went from 2000
to 5000 gallons) one of the required tests was to verify operation of the
Day Tank.    Those things usually have just one pump and related circuitry -
Think SPOF at all times !

Depending on the size of the day tank, you won't know there is no power to
the pump until there is a long enough outage to use up all the fuel in the
day tank---it could be years and years until you found out...
