        I can't be 100% certain, because I've not
        really stopped to ask lately, but in recent
        years more and more non-governmental
        stations have appeared, and in some countries
        they are now the majority.

        However, even radios that would return to
        the previously tuned station are not going
        to make it here because of the way the
        US industry is unwilling to work with itself.

        Just remember the "wars" in the 80s when
        stations were trying to upgrade outdated
        AM patterns and power levels. The big
        corporations fought tooth and nail to 
        prevent better signals (some of which
        *they now own*) ... rather than fighting
        by content.

        Broadcast has a lot of tools, but refuses
        to use many of them ... for reasons not
        related to getting info to listeners.
