[EAS] EAS and CMAS

Why do we put up with this? We broadcasters don't have to live this way, yet
as an industry, we seem more than willing to continually lie down and let
the government roll over us. The rest of the world gets radio and television
on their cell phones, but we let the government, supposedly under the
influence of the same cell phone industry that provides radio and television
capability in their products to the rest of the world, tell us "not here".
We also let the same government take away OTA television while continuing to
burden us with more and more regulations and higher and higher fees. Why?

BTW, this is the same government that doesn't want to have a working policy
for Public Warning, thus creating more people who need federal assistance
after a disaster. But are we doing anything about it? It seems our media can
bring down large corporations and evil banks, influence elections and make
blockbuster movies out of pure drivel. You'd think the least we could do
would be to create a public demand for radio and TV on our cell phones...how
hard can it be people? We've got to start talking to the staff in our
newsrooms.

of using CMAS to say "Check the media" on the very phones that the cellular
industry seems reluctant to put radio chips in.
