The delivery method of the internet isn't the problem. It's *how many
of them* do you have.

The problem will always be in the last-mile. The internet is
self-healing, your DSL line is not.

The problem doesn't exist entirely in the protocol either, but it
could use a bit of refining with respects to security (as Richard
already pointed out).

The big problem is the single-point-of-failure which fails almost
weekly, and that's relying on a single server to send out the
information. If the system was a distributed one, it'd have all the
healing powers of the Internet. Having 1 guy in charge is what is
breaking everything.

The design of the actual protocol isn't bad, it's the implementation
on a shoestring and IT done by government that breaks the whole damn
thing.

It also doesn't help when the manufacturers *tell* us what we need
because they need cash flow as well. Now we're all stuck in this mess
and from what i can tell, they're being very quiet while going to the
bank.
