I'm getting ready to do similar in AES-land with a slightly larger matrix.  It seems like the way to go these days.  This will replace an analog relay system that has been in operation for quite some time and the replacement will make the plant become digital-in to digital-out (ignoring transducers and only up until the stereo-generator, of course), removing some unnecessary DAC and ADC steps.
