Precisely. And the Internet is not a reliable method for emergency message
delivery given the massive probabilities some portion of this public medium
will be inoperative during a disaster such as Hurricane Sandy or even a
lesser hurricane due to lack of power for your ISP.
A couple of thoughts -
1- We don't have any system that can duplicate the ability of the Internet
and it's abilities - If we did, I'm sure that we'd be using it.
2 - Our Country is broke - and we don't have the money to duplicate what the
Internet can do and replace it with a private/closed system.
3- Had we not used the Internet, everyone that has been involved with the
creation of this EAS system would have been 'strung up' for not doing so.
4- Seems to me that those that have connected their equipment to the world
of hacking - without adequate precautions - are the ones to blame.
5 - This is like not locking the door on your house and when an, unwanted,
stranger comes in being critical of the fact that there are streets leading
to your house!
