Looks like the IPAWS OPEN server is back up as of 09/23/2012 11:47:17 PDT according to the emails I received from the boxes I monitor.

As a result of this issue I am very hopeful that a procedure will be put in place by FEMA to let the EAS client community know about network issues, including scheduled maintenance periods.

The IPAWS OPEN team members at FEMA who responded to fix this on a Sunday have been very responsive. That leads me to believe that this could set a good pattern/precedent for the future. I am sure it will also trigger some work on assuring this is less likely to happen again.

FYI, there is some Internet chatter I have picked up from several sources that this may have been trigger by a Verizon upgrade related to their 4G roll-out. If anyone else has heard something about this, i am sure all of us, including the FEMA people who monitor this site, would be very interested.
