[EAS] The Real Cost of Converters

Eric has expressed the value proposition I presented to my clients when EAS equipment decisions were made during 2011.

For those licensees who decided to go with converters, the FCC has now set a three year window at which time converters will have to be upgraded or replaced.

The reality is that the converter horse has left the barn and will not be corralled until 2015. For licensees who for some reason still have EAS equipment decisions to make, I personally hope they take the information that has been presented in this thread and go for fully CAP-capable EAS equipment. Some excellent suggestions for subsidizing the purchase of EAS equipment have been offered. Rejecting such ideas without at least trying to see if they would bear fruit is not compatible with what good engineers and good managers should be doing - keep an open mind to new ideas and solutions.

I would also hope that the vendors who manufacturer converters will let us all know what they plan to do as soon as possible.
