10-4 on that rhetorical question.  I was thinking that the text-speech
feature not being allowed (by the FCC's ruling as it is), meant that a
lesser, more humble converter unit could be purchased.

Seems to me now it's there anyway, on any and all converter units.

Does anyone see anything in the [final] ruling that clears the way for
radio to use converters past 2015 (barring no more rule changes, of course)?

Some of us noncoms, have to do this the cheapest way we can.
