For many years I have had the pleasure of knowing and working with
Herb White with the NWS. Herb not only understood broadcasting but
EAS. A great man that will be missed by many.
Good luck in your retirement, Herb!

Today is my last day with the NWS after more than 41 years. The variety
of work and especially the people I've come to know in the NWS has made
this trip about as rewarding as it can get. We've had wonderful times
with many people as I traveled through my career at the NWS offices
(okay, the first 2 were USWB) in Harrisburg, Charleston SC, Pittsburgh,
Raleigh, Binghamton and NWSH in Silver Spring and made great friendships
there and across the NWS and beyond.
There is much important work yet to be done by capable and dedicated
people. I wish y'all the best. After a trip to New York to visit Ground
Zero and to see the Rockettes and a late winter 12-day Caribbean cruise,
Gayle and plan to remain in Maryland for about least 2 years as we plan
our move back to North Carolina, land of Carolina Blue sky and early
spring.
