No one has said TTS is perfect. Why hold back an application for TTS that is already up and running and is producing positive results in Washington, including a huge benefit for the hearing impaired people in our society?
For those cases where TTS garbles words, the human brain has a remarkable and proven capacity for filling in blanks, and making sense out of imperfectly formed sounds.
If nothing else, TTS will aurally inform people that there is more to an event than the "canned" EAS code. Oh, yes. For the next EAN live code test, it can tell people that it's just a test - a huge improvement over the "canned" EAN crawl.
