Believe it or not, these are some of the better ones that we encounter in
some of these places! Last month, I watched one (not a client because he
refused to listen and learn - as these will not be if they don't, either)
get a letter "suggesting" that the transmitter be shut-down because the
license was deleted due to no renewal being filed. (He had just - last year
- paid a big NAL due to not filing for renewal in the last renewal
period.)What makes his operation stand out is the fact that he had moved a
class-A FM up a hill (gaining almost 400 feet HAAT), to a newly constructed
300 foot tower with a 10 bay antenna (from a 4 bay) WITHOUT reducing output!
Oh, did I neglect to mention that he also had not applied for a CP for the
changes? Did I mention that he also had not ever installed an EAS system at
all, not ever, since it was originally required back in 1997?
We get some real fruitcakes in the south! (They really don't see anything
wrong with what they're doing at all and, when it is pointed out, they cry
"I can't read that legalese!" and, when they're caught, they cry "No one
ever told me this!" and the attorneys get them off with a "token fine"
because they also show that they're making very little money. Then, they
keep on doing what they've been doing all along without ever learning a
thing.
I'm suspecting these (the new client station) people truly do not know and
are just testing to see whether or not "the new guy is honest". At least, I
do hope so! Or, they'll soon be looking for someone else, again.
