0xFEFFAn EAN, like any other EAS alert (sans RMT/ RWT) are obviously on the fly and not scheduled. There is no way for a station to insert any background slide from automation unless said automation accepts a GPI to retrieve, cue, and run said background upon the GPI trip.

While DASDEC does have an EAN GPO, there is no automation system I am aware of that is configured to do what's being suggested.

So TV and cable, what does your "real" EAN slide say?

We are redoing our EAN "appropriate" slide and there is internal debate as to the words that are needed. The real concern here is also the remote possibility of this slide accidently getting pushed up on air.

Slide 1 idea - "Emergency Alert System Activation" " This is an Emergency Action Notification requested by the White House. The President of the United States or his representative will be speaking to the nation shortly." " This is not a test"

Slide 2 idea - "The Emergency Alert System has been activated" "Tune to your trusted news source for additional information"

Slide 3 idea - "Emergency Action Notification has been activated" The President of the United States or his representative will be speaking to the nation shortly." " Or Tune to your trusted news source for additional information"

Comments?
