[EAS] This just in: NCTA has asked FEMA to "postpone" the national test

I don't understand why a group led by a former FCC commissioner who should
know better didn't speak up about these issues when the FCC issued their
Notice of Proposed Rule Making on National Testing. We broadcasters are
given a limited amount of time during NPRM's to comment or bring up
potential problems and outside those periods, we're told we're just out of
luck. And we have also been told "Too bad--So sad" when it comes to the cost
of adding new and improved EAS equipment but let now it appears that all the
Cable TV industry has to do is complain that something is too expensive or
too difficult and all the government regulators can't get in line fast
enough to be the first to halt the problem, just as they caved on the CAP
requirements for the new Part 11 rules. Definitely a case of favoritism...

national test

Too d*** bad...they've had as much time to prepare as the rest of us.

This just goes to show how unwilling the cable industry, at least as
represented by their trade group, is to actually be a useful part of EAS.
