Is the idea of an open letter from broadcasters to the FCC a bad idea? A lot of us have the same concerns and similar ideas for solutions. Maybe we should draft a letter that addresses those concerns and provide that as a template for everyone to send in so when the FCC sees thousands of letters saying the same thing the point will get across. If it is generic enough to cover some of the major concerns then most of us can probably agree to a single document. If you have additional concerns then sending a separate message is still an option. If we make it simple for many broadcasters to respond they will at least see that we are here and have input. They might ignore us but as was mentioned we the broadcasters are the reason EAS works in the first place.
Thank you

Obviously there are hundreds, maybe thousands, of people making millions of dollars from this procedure. From manufacturers to bureaucrats the bucks are flowing. Yet...those of us that are actually responsible for making this work and formulating the plans for "approval" are expected to be
volunteers and do it for FREE! Is it just me that is bothered by this?
Wayne--
This is also one of my sore points--it's been my experience that some of the bureaucrats and Beltway Bandits who are working on EAS-related projects not only have no experience with EAS, they have no experience with broadcasting and as state chair, I have to explain it all to them and guide them through their projects for FREE! And when you get right down to it, we're all taxpayers so in the long run we're actually paying to be treated this way.
There are people who are exceptions to this and I really try to support those individuals where I find them and they're the people who keep me going in this. But I'll never get back the 28 hours I spent over the "holiday weekend" updating our Monitoring Assignments list.
