With due respect Clay...bottom line is...I do grasp EXACTLY what is going on here...
There are those inside the beltway that are so in love with the technology...that the message and those that need to hear it are being forgotten...
Broadcasting is called BROADCASTING for a reason...the keyword is BROAD....from one transmitter to many listeners. Cell phone, texting, Internet....one to one technologies that are inefficient and light years from being real time mass media
My bottom line is...I worry about people....people who would actually believe and depend on a text to save them from impending disaster....I worry about people that listen to streaming audio and hear things 3 to 4 minutes AFTER they are broadcast on "real" radio......
It's been proven several times just this summer.....the technology is too fragile....and people who think it will warn them could die....
I really don't give a rat's behind what delivers the message...radio...tv...cable...cellphone...FaceBook...internet...On Star...XM/Sirius....or even a midget running door to door shouting "da storm....da storm"....I want it to be reliable....because I grasp the fact that people's lives depend on important information delivered NOW! Do you want to hear that people died because someone had to REBOOT the server?
