One estimate for origination of CAP messages is less than $1,000, but has many variables for optional modules that run the cost up. Licensing fees and maintenance may add another $200-$300 annually. When it comes to "wireless" transmission paths using UHF or VHF channels, there are numerous system questions to be answered: how much, how far, what terrain, how many channels, band plan, new channels, existing channels, etc.
