Speaking of technology lock-in: Do the current standards allow and/or require IPv6 support?

In this case, the problem is not the ability to upgrade equipment via the
Internet, it's that the FCC and FEMA have locked themselves into a specific
version of CAP, regardless of what improvements have been and will be made
in the program. Once again, we're being locked into what's basically a
2007-era "technology" while the industry standard continues to advance. Just
for perspective, how many of us are still using the same version of Windows
that we had in 2007? How many of us were into Facebook or Twitter in 2007? I
realize that software is a moving target, but knowing that, how can the feds
lock us into something that's going to be totally out of date in three
years?

Clay,
The TFT Model 3320 is also upgradeable via CAP messages on the Internet. I
think TFT, too, is a major player. Upgrades will be transparent to the user.
In fact, TFT 3320s will report back their level of software periodically and
be upgraded without any user interface. In most instances, EAS Participants
will be able to utilize their present EAS equipment with only a simple,
inexpensive addition rather than complete replacement.

Both of the major makers (Sage and Monroe) are saying their stuff is
software up-gradable via the Web...Should not be a problem with up-grades.
Frankly I don't see any path for existing equipment to be upgraded....But,
then again, I have been wrong in the distant past.
I agree, it's likely to be a rush-job at this rate.
