[EAS] EAS Digest, Vol 3, Issue 1

I'm meeting with some legislators later this month to discuss changing how
EAS & Amber Alerts are done in New Mexico. I'm pushing for adoption of the
Washington state model. Since our new governor is from the part of the
state that is underserved by EAS in its current form, and I have state
senators from both sides of the aisle interested in the idea, I'm at least
hopeful.
Carriage of messages from the governor will doubtless be part of the
discussions. I'll let the group know how the discussion goes.

Fellow EAS Stakeholders:
I'd like to pose a question to the group for comments.
Have you or anyone your know had any discussions yet with "governor level"
officials in your state about the mandatory EAS carriage provision?

Yes, the Governor's activation has been presented to Nevada emergency
officials during our recent conversations about CAP-compliant EAS. We are to
the point where they are going to ask for presentations from some of the
software vendors. I will keep you posted.

Have heard zip--zero--nada about anything concerning EAS in
West Virginia.
Never have heard anything. The statewide EAS seems mostly to
be run by the folks at the large WV radio chain (they
control most of the significant stations in
Charleston-Morgantown, where the political power resides in
this state).
