FEMA IPAWS is participating in the 2011 NAB Show because broadcasters and
alert and warning vendors are critical partners in our vision to provide
timely alerts and warnings to the American people in the preservation of
life and property.
I appreciate the input and responses you provided in the IPAWS booth during
the 2010 NAB Show and I would like to invite you to return to the FEMA IPAWS
booth (C2615) at this years NAB Show. We have a lot of new information to
share with you and we are eager to answer your questions, address any
concerns, and receive honest feedback. I invite you to participate in the
IPAWS demonstrations and workshops and take full advantage of the expertise
of the IPAWS staff.
The FEMA IPAWS booth (C2615) will host open, hands-on, interactive:
Demonstrations of end-to-end alert and warning technologies and
capabilities:
IPAWS staff and partners will be on hand at the FEMA IPAWS booth to
demonstrate the IPAWS concept of operations, alert origination, and alert
aggregation utilizing the IPAWS Open Platform for Emergency Networks (IPAWS
OPEN), and alert dissemination technologies. Multiple commercial
encoder/decoder devices, Emergency Alert System (EAS) devices, and NOAA
weather radios will monitor IPAWS OPEN for CAP messages and will alarm
equipment based on the message types and geo-location information contained
in the messages.
EAS workshops:
Ø Provide EAS Participants with information and best practices in
maintaining and configuring EAS equipment
Ø Discuss lessons learned, mitigation strategies, and successes in the
recent EAS tests in Alaska
Ø Review previous EAS activations
Implementation of CAP to EAS workshops:
Ø Detail how EAS Participants can connect EAS devices to IPAWS OPEN
Ø Discuss and describe the CAP architecture and feed
Ø Provide information on CAP-based messaging
