I also grew up in the Philly suburbs (Levittown) and we used to drive all
the way the WIBG transmitter site at night just to look at those five big
towers! There were a couple of spots we could drive to in Bucks County
where we could hear the weak signals of WHAT and WDAS, and we used to smirk
at Jerry Blavitt, 'The Geater with the Heater' who was so bad he had to buy
his time on the radio.

I recall meeting Ray McCoy, the CE at WFIL in the 'Round House' days. And
yes...I knew Ambassador Annenberg, and met with him and his wife a couple of
times at Sunnylands in the 90's. My mother was Annenberg's management
assistant for the last 14 years of his life. He had some amazing stories
about the early days of radio and TV, including the one about how Dick Clark
went from being the midday jock on WFIL-AM to the host of American
Bandstand, almost by accident.
